An Update on LYONS vs CTLAC, et al from public records

Just reviewed the Register of Actions for Case No. 2008-CA-001446 and found a flurry of events and orders of the court.  It was great news to find CTLAC now represented by counsel and that one or more of the defendants have filed motions for Award of Attorney Fees.

Candidate Surveys

Just found the candidates surveys online at http://americanfamilyforum.org scroll down, click on Online Voter Guide, then on the candidate's name.

It is most interesting to see how candidates stand on issues.  I recommend voters review these surveys before voting.  Thanks American Family Forum for making them available online.

PI Tailing Candidates

Do any of you know anything about this?

ABSENTEE BALLOTS

If you requested an absentee ballot, expect to receive literature from candidates.  They are simply trying to win your vote.  It's common practice.

Questions for Roy Lyons

Just read in TU where Mr Lyons was not available to answer questions when reporter called about the civl action he filed. Very interesting - he filed the civil action and now disappears or is unavailable to explain his actions.

After reviewing 08-CA-1446, I have a few questions for Mr. Lyons.

1. What is your interest as a individual in filing this civil action?

2. Are you part of a group of which you are the front man? If so, who are the other involved with you?

3. Who is providing the funds to retain your out-of-town counsel, pay expenses?

4. What are the plans your group has that would be affected by the CTLAC amendments?

Breaking News

In researching case files today, found that a Compliant by Roy Lyons against Citizen's for Term Limits & Accountability, Inc., Clay County and Barbara A. Kirkman was filed on 7-8-08, Case No. 2008-CA-001446 with the Clay County Clerk of the Circuit Court.  Online viewing does not permit a review of the documents filed or much details about the case.

Online information does states it is "Other Civil" Case Type and filed in Circuit Civil by C. Allen Watts, attorney for the Plaintiff, Roy Lyons.  Costs of CCSO serving the 20 day summons for three defendents was $180.00 ($60.00 each) with a $330.00 filing fee.

Florida Commission on Ethics Press Release of 3-5-08

Why Candidates Decide the Run

My perception of the above stems from observation.

Any one who decides to give it a try thinks they have something to offer and can truely make a difference.  As to why a certain office is chosen over another has many reasons.  There are those who simply cannot give it up and runs for whatever office is available.

Most voters do not like to see a candidate unoposed.  Voters also like a choice, especialy if the persons running carries baggage from a previous elective office.
