Dinosaurs
We walked with the Dinosaurs tonight. Both educational and entertaining. There are three showings tomorrow and at least one more on Sunday at the Jacksonville Arena. If you have elementary aged children or grandchildren or nieces or nephews take em (you might want to ask the girly girls first). The show lasts about an hour and a half with a twenty minute intermission. I recommend sections 310 thru 314 rows A thru H for the "cheap seats" or sections 107 thru 110 for the "mid priced seats".
Paranoia lead destroyer
Hvae you eevr raed one of tehese setnceens wrhee olny the frist and lsat ltetres are in the ccrerot pacle, but yet you can slitl raed it? Well, every time I see an Obama, Biden sign, bumper sticker, advertisement I see Osama Bin Laden. Am I crazy, should I be locked in a padded room? I will admit that on 9/11/01, I was scared. Scared because so many innocent lives were taken. Scared because if the planes had not been grounded our military would have had no choice but to take action. Scared because there really is no way to protect innocent lives when terrorist are in control. Scared because for the first time in my life, my country was under attack. Relax
Conclusion
In my opinion the mentality is to ignore the problem because a minority of citizens are law-abiding pet owners! I ask any one of you to drive the posted speed limit on Blanding Blvd, starting from Wells Road going south all the way (all 35 or so miles) to State Road 100 in Keystone Heights. Bring a passenger with you and count how many vehicles pass by you driving faster than the posted speed limit. Maybe two passengers one to count one to note the approximate ages of the drivers. After you tally up the totals then ask why even have a posted speed limit? Most of these people are law abiding citizens, but they can't stand to follow the posted speed limit. Some will drive their whole lives without ever getting a speeding ticket. Some will get one ticket and purchase a radar detector that guarantees it's effectiveness and will even refund the cost of a ticket. Some will get more speeding tickets. There is no way any law enforcement agency can possibly ticket every offender (except for Waldo and Lawty), but law enforcement does not ignore speeders.
Camp Blanding
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE FINAL HEARING FOR THE CAMP BLANDING BUFFER ZONE IS TOMORROW, TUESDAY AUGUST 26 AT 7:00 PM AT THE ADMINISTRATION BUILDING IN GREEN COVE SPRINGS. Maybe it is just coincidence that most working people affected by this hearing may have to choose between voting or protecting their land-owner rights.
Numbers
Today I overheard some numbers that made me shake my head in disbelief. Last month (July) CCAC took in 880 animals and only 46 dogs were reclaimed by their owners! No cats were reclaimed! Pitiful...Disturbing...Sorry...are few words that come to me. I'm sure that the costs to house, clean, feed, provide necessary veterinarian care (and euthanize) to these 880 animals were much greater than the reclaim fees collected. There is a way to offset this deficit. Mandatory micro-chipping and license of all animals including pleasure livestock.
Plea to anyone with common sense
There are a hand-full of people (three in particular) that only want to verbally attack a county agency. There definitely are changes that need to be made, but all of the changes need to come from Ordinance changes. 1. Mandatory micro-chipping of all (including livestock) animals adopted, rescued or reclaimed from CCAC. This would give a permanent identity to animals that have been at CCAC for any reason. 2. Contain all cats...(exempt property owners with 3 acres or more of land). CATS ARE NOT EXTERMINATORS...Rats can carry many diseases one in particular is PLAGUE. Fleas can transmit this disease (Plague) to warm blooded animals and HUMAN BEINGS. Related: read more | 34 comments
You gotta be kidding
How can anyone believe that one man can cure CCAC? Everyday there are hundreds of puppies born for one reason...PROFIT This county is loaded with "puppy mills" (not like the ones you may read about in the national news with hundreds of dogs) and "back-yard breeders". They own 5, 10 or 20 dogs and care less if the dog meets the breed standard. They care less if the dog is free of genetic abnormalities, heck they don't even understand genetics. They care less if the mama dog is teaching her puppies aggressive behavior. They care about the money they can make, tax free at that. They feed the dogs, go off to work or where ever for hours at a time, and expect the mama dog teach the puppies. After all that's how it's done in nature.
Stumbled Upon
Wow there is a huge red flag waving on Mallow Court in Middleburg. I just stumbled upon something that made my body shiver. MCS Sex Offender site lists nine (yes 9) adult male Sex Offenders living at 2200 Mallow Court. 9 adult males living in one house, this must be a massive house. Do all these men really live there? Is this a half-way-house for Sex Offenders? Is it legal for more than one Sex Offender to live at the same address? Who owns this property? (I checked the CCPAO site, but nothing popped up about the property). Does this address even exsist? Where is the closest school bus stop? Do school bus drivers know this? Are school bus drivers professionally trained to notice Sex Offenders? Is law enforcement patrolling? How often is law enforcent patrolling daily, weekly, monthly, or time permitting?
As I sit here
As I sit here I look up and see the trophies that have been persented to my child I wonder if I'm doing a good job. It definitely is not an easy job, it did not come with a manual and there are lots of options. We don't live in a mansion like I invisioned as a child. We don't drive a formula one sports car as I wish. We don't have plasma flat screens in every room. We mow the lawn and clean the house. We bathe the dog and clean his nasty (yuck) ears. We even scoop his poop!! We go to work and school. We laugh. We cry. We yell. We pout. We snuggle. We struggle. |
