Congrats CTLAC

Looking at the SOE web site results it appears that all 3 CTLAC Charter Amendments passed.  Also, the voters passed the BCC casino gambling amendment to be able to vote on any casino gambling in the future.

It will be interesting to see how the judge rules in the 'morrow.

PS keep guessing in my other blog. Some of you have almost got it but here's a hint:  Think 1940's

Guess Who!

While we await the election results I thought it my be fun for bloggers to  read the following then take a guess who the person is.

WHO AM I??

I was raised in one country but my father was born in another. I was not his only child. He fathered several children with a number of women.
I became very close to my mother because my father showed little interest in me. Then my mother died at an early age from cancer. Later in life, questions arose over my real name. My birth records were sketchy and no one was able to produce a reliable birth certificate.
I grow up practicing one faith, but converted to Christianity because this was widely accepted in my country. But I practiced non-traditional beliefs and did not follow mainstream Christianity.
I worked and lived among lower-class people as a young adult before I decided it was time to get serious about my life and I embarked on a new career.
I wrote a book about my struggles growing up. It was clear to those who read my memoirs that I had difficulties accepting that my father abandoned me as a child.
I became active in local politics when I was in my 30s and then burst onto the scene as a candidate for national office when I was in my 40s. I had a virtually non-existent resume, very little work history, and no experience in leading a single organization. Yet I was a powerful speaker who managed to draw incredibly large crowds during my public appearances.
At first, my political campaign focused on my country’s foreign policy. I was critical of my country in the last war. But what launched my rise to national prominence were my views on the country’s economy. I had a plan on how we could do better. I knew which group was responsible for getting us into this mess.
Mine was a peoples campaign. I was the surprise candidate because I emerged from outside the traditional path of politics and was able to gain widespread popular support. I offered the people the hope that together we could change our country and the world.

I Vetoed Today

I did it.  I Voted today!

Just to report, unlike what you see on the news I cruised in and out in less than 10 minutes along with the wife-n-stein.  No waiting no pain. (pain comes later when results are published) This was at the SOE office in GCS.

When reading the Times-Union endorsements today I saw where they are not making a pick for President.  I guess they are trying to stay on the plane.

Local Charter Amendments

I wanted to share my thoughts about the Charter Amendments on our Clay County ballot.

Sunday Sales.  My own feeling is that 2PM is early enough.  On a normal Sunday I’m still in church at noon.   I will vote NO

Casino Gambling.  This is to mandate that the voters get to vote to permit Casino Gambling.  It does not authorize Casino Gambling, it just passes the final decision to the voters.  In light of the fiasco in Orange Park regarding the Poker Room I think allowing the voters a true voice is a good thing. I will vote YES

Constitutional Amendments

Somewhere someone asked about items on the ballot.  I want to address items that are in the section regarding the Amendments to the State Constitution.    I know that not everyone will agree with me but I want to provide some food for thought before you go to the polls.

Constitutional Amendment 1.   I will Vote NO.  This is because the amendment attempts to undo what the voters decided recently regarding the rights of the state for the disposition of real property (land).  Voters had decided that land taken by eminent domain could not be taken and then given over for development to developers.  In other words, when the government needs land for schools and roads that’s ok but NOT ok to build a Wal-Mart or subdivision.  The concept was called “Highest and Best Use”.

History Repeats Itself Again!

As I was sitting around with nothiing better to do I started watching the news.  As the talking heads were rambling on and on about mostly nothing my mind began to wander.

i suddenly realied that what we are experiencing today is extremely like the 1930's. Only this time it's the good ol' USA and not Germany.

I remember seeing news-reels of German's going to the grocery with wheelbarrows filled with money.  Today, the government is spending money almost as fast as it can be printed.  With nothing of value to back up the currency, it won't be long before inflation run's rampant.

Hi-Jacked Computer!

I went to a search engine to see if there were any other blogs about Clay County.

I found the Clay Public Library had a blog so I clicked on the link.

I arrived at the site as advertised and I'm sure it has a lot of valuable information

HOWEVER

The BACK button on my browser was DISABLED by the site.

I wanted to go back to look at other selections but NOT SO FAST!

I was tied to the Public Library site and had to close my browser and start over.

THS IS WRONG!
