Blogging Personalities
One of the greatest things about reading blogs is that you get to know total strangers who in most instances reveal themselves much more online than they ever would in person. Cases in point, when I see the bloggers name, I can almost guess what their opinion on a particular topic is going to be. I classify most of the bloggers into the categories below. Am I in one of those categories, of course I am. Blogging personality types: Conspiracy Theorist Cynic Dreamer Agnostic Pie in the Sky (can't we just all get along) Realist Grumpy old Men/Women Public record hound Undercover lobbyist Undercover politian Fruitcake Where do you belong? If any of you can come up with additional personalities, feel free to do so. Feel free to say, yep, the Islander is a _______. In fact, I place myself into several of those classifications. Thank goodness for the diversity of bloggers!....I admire you, even if I don't agree with you! But who says I have to?

LOL Baxley..........you spoke THE TRUTH! I too find myself fitting into 'most' of the catagories ..... NOTE: I said 'MOST' .... Whew, thank goodness. But isn't it nice to be well rounded? WINK

Islander, Do you consider me Pie-In-The-Sky or Realistic? I'm sure I'm NOT Undercover Lobbyist or Politician because I'm not being paid the big bucks. Help me out...

Good question.....what do you consider yourself to be? Me, I am a little bit of all those categories I described. The one thing I didn't include was blind to the truth. Most of us bloggers are certainly not blind to what we believe goes on. We all have opinions, biases, and beliefs, and these all come from our total experience with life. We all have good opinions and ones that, well, aren't so hot. The one thing I believe is that our differences make our country great! We may never agree on nit-picking ideas, but we all believe that we need 1) a safe place to live 2) a safe place for our children 3) freedom where we are able to choose our destiny 4) a belief that we are a nation that has been chosen to lead the world, not perfect, but in the great design of things, we are an example for other nations. I know I sound patriotic, and while I don't agree with our government most of the time, I applaud its greatness, and the people that make it great. We are not perfect, but yet in our own way strive for perfection. We want the rest of the world to experience the freedoms that we enjoy. In other words we want to be contagious. We want to spread our ideas like a virus, to circle and infect the world with our ideas of freedom and fairness for all people. The way is not smooth, but it is straight and narrow.

Islander, good blog. Nice to see something that is not so serious, we all need to smile once in awhile. I can see myself in about six of those personality traits however I must protest being a grumpy "old" woman. :-) In fact some of my grumpiness can be down right juvenile at times. For the life of me though I cannot figure out who the "fruitcake" is, but like most everything else even labels are open to personal interpretation. To me a fruitcake is someone who may physically be in this world but their minds are somewhere else, and I don't see any of that here. We are all products of our enviroment, for better and for worse. I am hearing Carole King in my head. "My life has been a tapestry of rich and royal hue, an everlasting vision of the ever changing view" Baxley I am with you on making an effort to try and not comment where I have already stated my views unless of course it is something that is really important to me and that is the "Pie in the Sky" facet of my personality. I know we all can't get along, but I still believe it is important to try. We need the Peace Keepers, as much as we need Warriors, they balance each other out. That old saying "It takes all kinds to make a world, but some we could do without" comes to mind as well. I'm not an undercover anything, my name is real, picture is real, but a little dated. What I do for a living, clearly stated in my profile, and I have made reference to it several times in my blogs. I never considered signing up as anyone or anything else and sometimes have wondered why I didn't consider something more vague as others have. I could really have let some of my unsavory thoughts loose if I had. In this medium though you just cannot tell. Unless you know me in real life I could be a man from another country, or an alien from another planet...lol. Islander you left alien off the list! Key2Life I did not even realize you were a woman until a couple of weeks ago, I made an initial assumption and there was nothing in any of your blogs to indicate I was wrong until you came right out with it in another thread that I cannot remember what it was. In closing no doubt we all have "facets" to our personalities that are not apparent here in the blogs so it's best to not judge, but accept, take the nuggets of wisdom and knowledge where you find them, enjoy the humor where it is presented, appreciate the compassion of some and sense of civic duty of others, and just keep on blogging!

Marsha, Would an avatar help define gender on MCS? We know JonathanBennett advocates using avatars. I guess I'll go online and see if there's one shaped like a key. I love lilyslore's avatar. When I read her blogs and see that icon, I can almost hear her voice in my head. It's great for the imagination. Islander, as with the other bloggers, I can peg myself into any number of those listed characteristics. But sometimes its just fun to hear how others percieve you without the benefit of meeting you. Thanks for the opportunity to blog on a fun topic.

Key- Thank you for the compliment on my avatar. As you realize, I'm sure, it is Rat, star of Pearls Before Swine. He seems pretty aggravated with the world at large just as I feel a great deal of the time. I doubt Rat and others like me will ever be content. You should choose ana vatar you most identify with. "He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire."

Key I agree with you that Lily has the most expressive avatar of all, and I too can nearly hear her voice at times. I don't know that an avatar to reflect the gender is really necessary, in your case it makes no difference, I interpret what you say no differently then I did before I realized you were a woman. It is making me think about changing mine as well to something more fun.

OK fellow bloggers, I'm going to try this avatar thing out. Let's see how it works. Give me some feedback on the new avatar. I may have to play with this and tweak it some. Nice thing is, we can change them at will. I like that. I don't think I want to be held to just one avatar. Islander, I see you've been playing with yours, too. Love the "islander" surrendering iwth a white flag.

I have noticed a lot of blogs written in many ventures that go from thought provoking to the other extreme of, "What the heck was this person thinking?" The good news is that everyone has an opinion, some left, some right, some middle and some coming from another planet in a galaxy far, far away. As much as I disagree with some points of view, I respect everyone's right to write. A couple of helpful hints though would make it easier for some readers. Please use paragraphs to separate thoughts. Long diatribes that change thoughts in the middle of the text is a drag to read and very confusing. I am not an editor nor am I affiliated with this publication, nor am I an English major. I work in automobile sales and am currently job hunting (by the way I am NOT applying for a job by writing this blog). I just want to be able to enjoy what I am reading and be able to understand the writers thought process. I hope that when I blog, I convey my thoughts clearly and use some humor to help keep it a little light-hearted. By the islander, I love your list and I would consider myself as a realist, but I am very optimistic about the future for all of us!

Every body I know fits into one or more catagory whether they blog or not. So I guesss I missed the point

I don't think there really was a point other then something a little lighthearted to mix in with all the stuff. Life is too short for everything to be so serious all the time and it's way too short to spend it all on politics, and current events. It was blogging bonding, a boost to the emotional growth of the MCS family tree People are talking about ...Here are the recent blog postings with the most comments. |

OUCH! The truth hurts.
I have found myself a bit predictable too, and am consciously avoiding subjects where I can't think of anything new to add. It is an interesting forum, to say the least. Most choose to remain anonymous, though after a while, we get to know each other anyway.
I'll confess to being an agnostic, cynical, dreamer who believes in eating pie-in-the-sky. Somedays I feel more like a realistic, grumpy old man, and from time to time, I even sound like a fruitcake. But, I have to draw the line at being undercover with lobbyists, politicians, or hounds. That's something I'll never confess to.
