Good Sunday Morning!
I’ve been reading the blogs for sometime now, and have, on occasion, made a comment here and there. Reading being one of my passions, I enjoy many aspects of MCS blogland. It’s very interesting reading different opinions on varied subjects. I get tickled at times with the camaraderie many of you share. At other times, I become confused because I’m not a very political person in that, try as I might, I don’t always understand the working of political minds. This doesn’t mean I don’t vote, because I do being lead by my conscience and to the best of my ability in making a decision with the hopes it is the right one. I’m a true believer in the concept that every vote counts. Having said the above, with this being my first post, I’ll tell you a bit more about me as I’m sure anyone reading is dying to know. Yes, I believe in cornballishness (like that word?) and humor being a common denominator. My father was in the Navy 23 years; then served another 17 as a police officer for the government. Our family settled here in l952; we lived slightly north of the Clay County line, in fact in walking distance of the Naval Air Station’s north gate. We kids went to school in Duval County, but in high school years many of our friends in Orange Park joined us. I’m not sure why that was, whether they were given the option with the only high school back then in Green Cove. Nonetheless, I’ve always considered myself a Clay County girl having settled here in Lake Asbury close to my younger brother and his family who have lived here for close to 30 years. I take pride in my community. In the past, and still now when able, I’m an advocate for those with developmental disabilities. I had a sibling who walked in those shoes; so naturally, I do what I can with my voice for those who sometimes cannot speak for themselves. I have a daughter, two grandchildren and a 19 mo. old great granddaughter. They are the joy of my heart, my hope for the future and a big reason for being thankful to wake up each day. I believe in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Don’t hold that against me, okay? J I have an open mind, and as I mentioned, I enjoy knowing what’s going on in yours. I’m not judgmental, or prejudiced in any way. Until the next time.

Thank you for sharing some of your personal history, I enjoy hearing about the people behind the opinions, it makes it all so much more interesting. I don't really see the camaraderie you do but I hope it does come at some point, I know I am trying! What I do see is that there are some who care about the integrity of the site and come together to discourage those who just want to be rude and nasty. That gives me hope that more will come of this. Baxley is right, it can get into your blood, and some of the time it's downright fun. Your comment regarding voting your conscience to the best of your ability and believing every vote does count is a mindset that is really needed here, and in the community as a whole. I think there is brilliance in simplicity because it can reach most everyone. Making something more complicated then it has to be is one of the oldest forms of displacement and manipulation that keeps many from becoming involved, we need more people like you! I think the site is an excellent format for reviving the art of conversation and slowly I think we're becoming a virtual community. Let us all hope it continues to grow and we continue to encourage new people to join in. Happy DRY Monday everyone!

Thanks so much; you've both made me feel welcome. Now, let me put my thinking cap on and see what I can come up with for a post. In the meantime, I'll continue reading what you good folks are talkin' about. :) People are talking about ...Here are the recent blog postings with the most comments. |

"I get tickled at times with the camaraderie many of you share." I couldn't resist commenting on that line, because I have been thinking about it a lot today. This blog site can get in your blood if you're not careful. It is, for me at least, and I think some of the others too, a hi-tech form of community. We get to learn each other's personalities, strengths and weaknesses, etc. It is fun - most of the time.
I have seen your posts before, and love your name. It instantly conjures up what you are apparently very proud of - a grandmother. Glad to chat with you.
