Finger Lickin' Good Recipes by MCS Blogging Buddies

Someone suggested we start a recipe blog, so here goes...

Beef Short Ribs

Ingredients:

3-4 pounds beef short ribs--One large thick sliced onion--2 cans beef broth and equal amount of water--flour-- 3 to 4 minced garlic cloves.

Season short ribs with garlic mixture of 1 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp pepper. Dust  short ribs with small amount of flour and brown in oil on stove top in a large Dutch oven. Add 2 cans beef broth and equal amount of water ( enough liquid to cover meat.). Add minced garlic and sliced onion to season. Increase or decrease seasonings as desired.

Cook on stove top for about 2 hours, adjusting temperature as needed, but starting on medium high. The liquid reduces greatly by the end of the cooking time, and creates a great gravy.

Cook a pot of rice and serve short ribs on top of rice.

This is even better the next day as leftovers.

Mmmm--goood!

Pioneer,

You are the lowest of the low.  Lower than a snakes belly.  So low that you would have to look up to see the bottom of a whale turd.  How can you have the complete disregard of your blog buddies by providing this kind of recipe without issuing an invitation for a BBQ to all of us.  You cad.  You rascal.  You impudent ne'er do well.  You yutz.

On the other hand, the recipe sounds great.  I'll have to try it.  For all of you out there, if you want something simple, try marinating any ribs & such in Krafts Zesty Italian dressing.  Mo better yums.  An hour/ hour & a half, & you have great tasting ribs, chicken & such.  Don't forget to try some other spices.  Paprika, curry, oregeno & the like.  Try it.  You'll like it.

I guees my invite got lost in the mail.  JATFUR..

Pi,

Just keep the recipes coming....pretty please.

Actually, Solo/Rich I thought the same thing.  Modify the wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall (in the case of some political wheelin' and dealin') to: wouldn't you like to be a guest at the table!

I am a pretty good cook, but I have never made decent short ribs.  Can't wait to try this recipe.

Solo and CV

My door's always open and you're always welcome at my table...No groveling needed.

CV--Would you believe I had never even heard of beef short ribs until recently? (That's very un Southern of me to admit.) My friend and I saw the recipe on Food Network--Paula Deen. She tried it and uses the recipe often. The recipe calls for 2 hours roasting time in the oven, but I did mine all on the stove top, which is much easier. My friend vows to make it simpler for herself next time and use my stove top method, too.

This marinade recipe comes from an ole shipmate out of San Diego....it's wonderful for chicken, pork or beef.

Equal parts of cider vinegar and soy sauce (Kickoman), I make enough to cover the meat as least half way.  Add lemons......wash, quarter, squeeze and throw in the lemon once squeezed.  Add yellow onions in chunks.  Taste marinade for desired flavor.  Then in goes the meat.  I marinate overnight.  Cook on grill...wrap in foil and just before it's done remove and place directly on grill for that grilled look.  And the onions are wonderful cooked on grill!!!

Enjoy.
