Changes in the rules
I have been following the threads for many weeks without much comment. But I have been thinking about the new rules imposed on the blog and it comes down to one issue. The Sheriff, Mr. Beesler, writes one article opposing anonymous input and all of the rules are changed on the blog...Totally amazing! Now for months we have read diatribes about the owner of the Ravines (if I met him on the street I would run and hide my wallet based on the posts), animal control (I would hide my babies because according to the blog they would kill anything that walks), the CRC (should be hanged from the nearest tree for treason), Christy Fitzgerald (gosh just draw and quarter her now...and we would have eden back), Arthur Ivey (if only he had not been working for the county all of the past sins would never have happened...I bet he wished that he had that much power). Jon Bennett, in my view, is doing the best he can with the mismanagement that he is working with. I believe until the new rules were enacted, he managed the blog proficiently. He removed items that were total personal attacks, which is how it should have been. One politician should not be able to complain to change the course of the blogs. FTDOAAWM; I must have missed it too. I did see the news article in MCS (paper) from the Sheriff and he did complain about anonymous input to the blog site, but that was weeks ago. What I missed is the 'change' in the rules. As far as I know, the 'terms of use' have not been changed. However, they seem to be making an effort to ensure that people provide accurate information as to who they are when they sign up for an account. Screen names are still allowed and you don't have to reveal who you are to anyone except the web site managers. Some will use this anonymity to be able to communicate without fear of reprisal, some will attach their names to their posts and some will hide behind this to act like morons. As to the mismanagement that Jonathan works with, I'm not sure who or what that pertains to. Until recently the site was pretty mellow most of the time. Any real attacks were handled very well by the users themselves. What has changed is the addition of very vociferous group. If you read their blogs you can make you own assessment of that statement. That is, you can read some of them. A few have been taken down for good reason. Most of us pick sides of an issue and try to defend that side in a reasonable fashion. Like any debate, some can get a little heated. However, most know when to step back, take a breath and mend any bridges that may have been scorched. If not, someone will remind them that they have stepped over that fine line between debate and attack. I've had my fingers rightfully whacked for that on occasion. My guess is that PB might be a member of the group that wants the sheriff out and thinks that the MCS blog site management caved under some kind of pressure from the sheriff. The article from the sheriff was quite some time ago so I don't see it that way, but he/she is certainly welcome to think so. Mike Heemer

Guess I should have been more clear and not rambled. I meant the Sheriff's editorial in the MCS on 1/25. Obviously I should have been more prompt in my observations. Have not made a decision in the Sheriff's race, way to early. Their could even be more candidates, who knows. People are talking about ...Here are the recent blog postings with the most comments. |

I don't read the blogs everyday, but I must have missed Sheriff Beesler blog. From what you say Things have changed drastically. I don't see it. There are still many hit pieces. No I do not know the Sheriff, or give him money (unless you count the speeding ticket) , I think the past owner of the Ravines should have been allowed to make as much profit as he wanted, Ivey should be in jail, and Fitzgerald should have had a hefty fine. The only way I learned about any of these people is from the Clay Today, Folio, and the Jacksonville newspaper. If I had read just the blog I would probably agree with your second paragraph.
So what has changed? What did the big bad Sheriff do? Please point me to his post, and an example of how things have changed.
Thank you
