Clay Sheriff Candidate

The newest candidate for sheriff is not the person that one blogger stated.  Paul Abernathy has a record that exemplifies qualities unlike that of a sheriff.  He was not hired or re-hired at the sheriff's office due his actions of distributing dope back in the seventies.  From what i was told by Abenathy it is the policy of the sheriff that anyone who has sold or distributed dope in their lives cannot be hired, so it is highly unlikely that the sheriff is interested in Abernathy splitting the vote as he would not want this association.  Abernathy is also the pastor at a small church in middleburg, however, this church has failed in every attempt to grow due to Abernathy's failed ability to lead.  He was a former youth pastor at Black Creek Baptist in penny farms until he made false allegations against the pastor and was eventually forced to leave.  Now after all this he wants to the sheriff of an institution that would not even re-hire him, this is not the kind of person needed at the sheriffs office, don't allow this Ralph Nader of clay county to split the vote or take the vote from serious potential sheriffs

And your recommendation for Sheriff would be?

With all this reading I've been doing here in the blogs about this being a Christian nation I thought the theme was to forgive.

I'd be a lot more impressed with your blog if you came on as an advertisement for a particular candidate and told why he is a good man for the job. To me this one is not any better than any of the other smear campaign. Make your candidate look good, not this one look bad.

If I were running for an office and you were one of my supporters I'd make sure everyone knew that I did not ask for, nor want your help. I wouldn't even want your vote for fear that people would think that I approved of this type of statement.

Forgiveness is an absolute, if you're thinking i'm perfect then i have horrible news for you.  Maybe though, the sheriff's office needs to show forgiveness.  On another point, wake up and smell the roses mike, smear campaigns and money drive the political world and you would need my vote if you ran for office using nice and pretty tactics because i would be one of your few supporteres.

OK, so what was the answer to the question? I still don't see anything positive about any candidate.

Hmm! Woke up, smelled the roses (had too much fertilizer on them) and still didn't want your type of support.

Okay, that's enough attacks on my part, my bad.  Mike Taylor doesn't look bad for the office.  His bio on his website definently emeplifies past qualities of a sheriff and he also has the money according to the supervisor of elections website.

Foxx;

You are correct about the bio which I'd already seen and the money. The bio looks good and he certainly has lots of money. I've already seen two of his huge (8X16?) signs.

I have not yet completely made up my mind about my choice. One real issue I have with Mike Taylor is his FOP connection. I just have a real hard time with unions and by rote people endorsed by unions. Tried being a union member once, didn't like it.

The only other issue I have with him is some of the posts I've seen on this sight from his supporters. Not specifically yours but if you do some looking you will probably see what I mean. I really think that some of the posts are doing him more harm than good.

I think I remember a blog that chastised Taylor too. It was about his signs at the polls during election time being illegal. So I think it has been on both sides.

Wasn't Beseler the President of the FOP at one time? I thought I saw that in one of his bio's. Seems the seat looks different when you are the President of the FOP or when you are the Sheriff. He should know he has now been on both sides.

After so many different blogs I'm not certain which ones support Taylor, support Beseler, or support one of the other candidates. I'm just reading along.

What is the old saying we can pick our friends but not our family? --- unfortunately it's almost the same in the political world don't you think? I'm certain that Mike isn't thrilled with some of his so called supporters comments.  But- I must say that if you are a business man or running for office you have to be "cool" in your dealings and what you say in order to keep yourself clean.  Now I personally don't know Mike, at least I don't think I do ... that being said- My husband knows him - way back- .... Mike's a family friend who he hasn't seen in years.  My brother in law who is an officer in a 'completely' different county has also asked us to consider voting for Mike.

I personally don't feel that Sheriff Beesler has done anything for my end of the county (Keystone).  For the 30+ years that I have lived here we have always been the red-headed step child and partly because of the location I'm sure. That of course doesn't make me feel any better when we have 2 officers on duty in Keystone- they both are called out and our next officer comes from Middleburg.  We may not be as big as Orange Park but we have grown quite a bit in the past few years.

But...that's just my thought. Laughing

What Mr. Foxx neglects to tell you is... the truth. Paul's "distributing of dope" was a single occasion when he was 12. I do think that he made a mistake when he was 12, hardly a reason to be discredited... I also remember a man who admitted to doing opium, his name was Winston Churchill, there were two others who admitted to marijuana, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. Even today president George Bush did cocaine! Yet one time when Paul was twelve is unacceptable? Another thing Mr. Foxx forgets is, when Paul made the "false allegations" against the pastor of Black Creek Baptist, he not only agreed with Paul but left the church with Paul to become the music director of the church Paul preaches at today, only to get his feelings hurt and leave after several hungover mornings leading the music. He also neglects to tell you that the youth group at Black Creek grew from around 4 kids to about 80 while Paul was the leader. Furthermore, Paul was not forced out, he was asked to leave with pay through the end of the year by the "Witch hunters". I personally think that a violation of the bylaws of the church is just cause to call the pastor out. And just to further elaborate on Mr. Foxx's misleading comments, Paul started the church he is pastoring at now 15 months ago, they began with about 8 people and it has grown to about 80 members including several influential families in the community. I'm not saying that Paul is or is not the man for the job... I merely want people to have the facts straight.
