So the Governor doesn't want Georgia to drain water from the rivers because it will harm fishing. What the HECK does he think draining water from the SJR is going to do? The only difference is that this river is entirely in Florida and we don't have to deal with any other state to screw it up. AAARRGGG! I can't stand it. Thanks for the link, the last I'd heard on the news last week the story was the same except for perhaps the Federal Goverments participation. I could have just missed it due to multi tasking.
I found it rather ironic that with all the growth issues Florida is dealing with that they had the balls to say Georgia had not planned their growth responsibly. Is that not the pot calling the kettle black.
My underdog in this fight are the fisherman who are looking at losing their way of life. Over a decade ago the family fisherman whose vocation is often a generational, son to son business began to suffer due to restrictions. Some good, some bad and just enacted to support the affluent Sports Fisherman. In Mayport they are now fighting to survive against the Cruise Ship Industry.
My late Husband was the Fishing Vessel Safety Inspector for the Goverment and came to know many of these families personally. Most of them just make a living and are a very modest, simple people. I met many of them as well seeing them each year for the Blessing of the Fleet. They may be forced to evolve with the changing times but for the moment I hope they don't lose out in this. Their side doesn't get heard alot because they don't have the money to launch PR campaigns and see to pale in importance to the general populus in favor of the giants they go up against.
I wish them Fair Winds and Following Seas.
