Fliers Beware
When Shakespeare penned the words "First, we kill all the lawyers" in his play Henry VI, he would have been amazed at how beloved that phrase would become. I believe it to be an incomplete phrase and he should have added the words "before they grow up to be judges". Once more the robe clad usurpers of human decency have struck at a suffering public. Last year legislation was enacted giving airline passengers basic rights to food, water and bathroom privelges when stranded (or held hostage) on airplanes awaiting departure for whatever reason. Today, the new York Court of appeals have deemed it unconscionable that individuals have these rights. Here is a link to the New York Times story. Read it and weep, then buy a ticket on Amtrack. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/26/nyregion/26passenger.html?_r=1&oref=slogin For those of you who know me through my writings, I am presenting one more reason why we should always vote NO on retaining any judge. This is always the outcome, sooner or later. I think the problem is that this needs to be resolved on a national level, not a state level. I can imagine the chaos if every state starts passing their own laws regarding airlines, that's why it was overturned.
There needs to be a Federal Ruling on the rights of Passengers, not a state one.
I don't believe Attorney General Cuomo is doing anything other then laying the groundwork for his own political climb. He's the same fella that is going to be involved for turning the mortgage industry upside down come 2009 as if it's not in enough trouble already.
Cuomo was the former director of HUD and his Grandfather was the former Governor for the State of NY
They had to know this would be overturned, it's just political Grandstanding. Maybe he's hoping for a Vice Presidential invite.
