Floridians for Immigration Enforcement
Floridians for Immigration Enforcement Fellow Blogers much of this blog has been C/P, I know many disagree with that, but this issue is too important to be concerned how it got here, the content of the blog is the issue that matters. This blog has been posted; not so much for my fellow blogers, as it is for all that read the blogs on this site who do not participate. It is my intention to keep this blog out front for some time, to give as many readers the opportunity to read the information, and get involved in the political process, as to afford all who concur the opportunity to make a difference in a way that will stabilize the safety, security, and economics of the State of Florida, and our nation. As I get further information on the topic I will repost it as a revised edition of this blog. I will also post new information on HR 4088, The save act, as a revised edition to this blog. We did it! Your calls, faxes and emails were effective. All of the immigration enforcement bills, HB73, HB159, HB571, HB577 and HB821 are going to be heard in State Affairs Committee next Tuesday, April 8th from 4-6 PM. Elements of five bills will be combined into a Proposed Council Bill (PCB). The PCB will have to be passed by the Government Efficiency & Accountability Council. The PCB will then be either heard by the Policy and Budget Council which must favorably pass the bill or moved to the floor for a vote. This is a GREAT thing to happen because it means all of your hard work has been fruitful to get the bills heard! Actions:Please thank the House Leadership for listening to Floridians and for allowing the bills to be voted on. These elected officials are due a great deal of praise for their actions. We have an obligation to extend our appreciation so please make sure you make the following calls, especially to Speaker Rubio who received the larger share of our requests: Rep. Marco Rubio, Speaker of the House, (R) Miami: (850) 488-1450, (305) 442-6939 Rep. David Rivera, Chair Rules & Calendar Council, (R) Miami/Naples: (850) 488-7897, (305) 227-7630, (239) 434-5094 Rep. Frank Attkisson, Chair House Govt Efficiency & Accountability Council, (R) Kissimmee: (850) 488-8992, (407) 943-3077 Please attend the State Affairs Committee Hearing in Tallahassee on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 from 4-6 PM. (The room number will be posted at www.flimen.org when it becomes available.) This request to attend may be a sacrifice, but a large number of Floridians are really needed to fill the hearing chamber. This issue is hugely important to you and all Floridians so please, please make the effort to get to that hearing. While in Tallahassee you can make an appointment to visit your Florida Representative and Senator. A large number of citizens have sacrificed a great deal to get the bills moved to this point. We understand the time and expense commitment but failing to get these bills passed will continue hardship to Floridians. We can expect an onslaught of criticism from factions who view illegal immigration on the basis of culture or race. Many pro-illegal immigration groups use rhetoric designed to stifle debate on the real issues of rule of law, crime, costs, and other negative impacts of illegal immigration. We must continue to reject their diversionary tactics and remain on issue. To remain on issue consider the following: The five bills include modest, reasonable provisions to address the problem. For example, the E-verify provision requires only that contractors to state and local governmental entities verify the legal status of workers. The provisions are not as broad as the Arizona legislation that requires private employers to verify legal status of workers. The incremental approach to first require the state and cities to obey the law is a limited measure that makes sense. Because our federal government has failed to enforce immigration laws states rightfully need to take action. Contrary to the myth perpetrated by the pro-illegal immigration factions, immigration enforcement is NOT the exclusive authority of the federal government. The courts have consistently upheld the authority of Arizona and Oklahoma laws that regulate licenses under their control. Indeed it is the responsibility of all levels of government to adhere to the rule of law in the protection of everyone in our country. The E-verify provision will level the playing field for businesses that contract to the state and cities instead of the current situation where unscrupulous businesses are devastatingly undercutting the livelihood of law-abiding businesses. E-verify properly address the core problem of illegal immigration - the job magnet. The provision to prohibit Sanctuary Cities is a reasonable provision to stop Florida cities that blatantly prevent law enforcement officers from reporting criminal aliens to federal authorities. In a democracy this practice can not be defended. The provision to prohibit illegal alien hiring halls is a reasonable provision to prevent Florida cities from blatantly sanctioning the expenditure of public funds to promote the illegal hiring of unlawfully present foreign nationals, to the detriment of taxpayers and workers. Public safety provisions such as verification of immigration status of persons confined for DUI or BUI protect EVERYONE including citizens, immigrants (legal by definition), illegal aliens (alien is not derogatory but is a proper legal term) and tourists. Combined efforts of concerned citizens and various groups have been effective in advancing these bills forward to this point. There will be significant challenges ahead so your continued involvement is needed to reach our final goal of passage of a good bill. Florida House Bill 821 Bill 821: Will require all law enforcement to report illegal immigrants to the Enforcement office of the United States Department of Homeland Security, if the illegal alien has been arrested or convicted of a felony offense. Allows the Attorney General's office, Department of Law Enforcement and local law enforcements to vigorously pursue all opportunities to collect federal funds to help Will require state agencies which provide public benefits to verify citizenship of any person 14 years of age or older, who apply for the benefits. No county or municipality shall use revenue to fund a worker center or day-labor worker center when the center or any part thereof knowingly facilitates the hiring of Please print and sign petition, send it to Governor Christ at address listed on petition http://www.flimen.org/images/HB821Petition.pdf People are talking about ...Here are the recent blog postings with the most comments. |

Please make some important calls for SAVE Act
Submitted by freespeech on Fri, 04/04/2008 - 2:36pm, Revised
.Please make some important calls for SAVE Act Please call your US Representative from Florida at 202-224-3121 to urge the Representative to sign the Discharge Petition to force a vote on the SAVE Act (H.R. 4088) if they have not done so already per the list below. Additional information available at NumbersUSA and FAIR.Not
NOT Signed: Alan Boyd (a co-sponsor), Corrine Brown, Kathy Castor, Lincoln Diaz-Balart Mario, Diaz-Balart, Alcee Hastings, Ron Klein, Tim Mahoney, Kendrick MeekIleana, Ros-Lehtinen, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Robert Wexler
Signed: Jeff Miller, Ginny Brown-Waite, Gus M. Bilirakis, Connie Mack, Ric Keller, Ander Crenshaw, Tom Feeney, Cliff Stearns
AS of April 1st, 2008 we need only thirty seven more signatures to force the discharge petition, so the save act can be brought to the floor for a vote. Pelosi, the speaker of the house is doing everything she can to see that an amnesty bill is attached to the save act.
You can bet that Pelosi’s agenda is to get amnesty for the 12 to 20 million illegal immigrants in this country. She knows if she can secure her amnesty bill, she will have the illegal’s democratic vote. This action would destroy the two party system as we know it. What she hasn’t taken into account is the damage, and the destruction, of our infrastructure that will take place if the save act is not enacted into law. Along with a common since approach to the numbers of immigrants we allow to come here legally.
Please Email this information, and links below to your state, National representatives, and all of your friends. Lets get the thirty seven signatures needed to secure our countries future. 78% of Americans see illegal immigration as a threat to our economy, and the future of our country. Our government works for us! Let them know that you are watching their actions, and the way they vote. We can win the good fight, speak up Americans It's your government

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and a handful of her far-left cronies in Congress are plotting to put amnesty for 12-20 million illegal aliens back on the table! And their first order of business is BLOCKING legislation that would finally beef up our nation's border security and crack down on employers that hire illegal aliens.
We're talking about the Secure America Through Verification and Enforcement Act of 2007 or SAVE Act of 2007 (HR 4088), an enforcement-only bill that will add 8,000 agents to secure our borders and implement systems that will allow employers to easily verify workers' immigration status.
There has been speculation for some time that Pelosi and liberal Members of Congress were meeting behind closed doors... planning to unveil a 5-year amnesty plan in the Spring. But if her 5-year amnesty plan is to succeed, THE SAVE ACT MUST DIE! Perhaps that explains why many Democrats who actually co-sponsored the Secure America through Verification and Enforcement Act of 2007 or SAVE Act (HR 4088) have not yet signed the discharge petition that would bring the bill to a vote and prevent Pelosi and liberals in Congress from silently killing it in committee.
As you already know, the SAVE Act is an enforcement-only bill that will add 8,000 agents to secure our borders and implement systems that will allow employers to easily verify workers' immigration status.
And now it appears that Pelosi, Baca and company are getting desperate and hedging their bets. If they can't kill the SAVE Act outright, they'll neuter it with a killer amendment. We can't let that happen! If 37 additional Members of Congress sign the discharge petition, the SAVE Act WILL come to the floor of the house for a vote! If the SAVE Act comes to the floor for a vote, IT WILL PASS!
