Stand For Something

I've had the pleasure of following the Blogs for quite some time. However never felt inclined to post myself.

I am a registered voter of Clay County, and whilst my husband is active duty Military and we are stationed away from our hometown, it sure is nice to get a feel for the political activities going on there from real Clay County residents.I read the paper , the internet and watch the new as much as possible to keep up to date. The media does not always present things in the truest light.

As of late I'm quite concerned about certain individuals who seem to want to keep political subjects from being discussed within the blogs. In my mind the political issues that are affecting Clay County should be one the most important issues on a site such as this.

For those who are discouraging the recent talk of the petition,I'd advise since you strongly disagree with it, why not post your own opinions, instead of trying to abolish the discussion in its entirety? My husband is one of many who are fighting for your rights to free speech every day. Please dont be confused, it's YOUR free speech, not for you to remove the rights of others.

Once again, these Blogs are en excellent way for many people to keep in touch with whats going on in our area. For those of you who feel " real " issues being discussed here is putting a damper on your social life on the internet, I'd suggest trying EHarmony, or possibly your local bar!

I'd personally like to thank all of you who continue to post on these Blogs amidst the flaming of such individuals, sometimes what is right isnt easy. The information is truly appreciated by me, and I'm sure many like me, who are out of state serving their country, and dont want to forget their hometown in the process :)

Thank you for your input as to the latest blog episodes.  It is nice to hear from another voice and know that others are reading this blog and appreciating the 'conversations' that take place.

I am not a native of Clay County, but have lived here for over 12 years and followed the local political scene since we purchased our home almost 10 years ago, as what happens in local government has a direct impact on our lives.

I have learned SO much just by reading this MCS blog and am always disappointed when people think that an open discussion shouldn't be allowed because they disagree.   A discussion of the issues with logic and common sense instead of rhetoric would be very welcome and I appreciate your recognition of that.

Again, thanks Miani for your input and for your family's service to our country, and welcome to the MCS blog.

Judy,

I very much appreciate the warm welcome.I'm glad to know there are others here that share the same idea of open discussions without flaming and accusations. It's surely enjoyable to just have a mature discussion with all points of view welcomed by all!

Thanks again for the super warm welcome!

It's great to have you 'on board'.......first let me say "Thank You" and a high five to you and your family for your service to our country.  Retired Navy here, 32 years.

Like Judy, I've learned so much about Clay County just from reading the blogs.  We are not natives either, but have lived here since 1987.  It's home and I want to learn all I can and become involved in my county's government.  I too, along with Judy, enjoy a discussion of the issues as long as it's informative and not pure rhetoric.

Hope we will be hearing from you more often.  Again welcome.

stryker,

You nailed it: Information vs. Rhetoric.

Miani,

Welcome to Clay County. You may feel like you've entered the Twilight Zone but it's not so. There are many other counties who are more dysfunctional than we are. Trust me.

Kick back and relax. It's like playing a Wii, it's interactive and yet you're viewing everything on a screen.

Some of us put the fun in dysfunction. I have been here in the county almost 50 years so I know the Who's Who or should I say the haves and us have not's. I may not always be politically correct but I do tell it like it is.

I'm not new to Clay County, I've been a resident there for close to 20 years.

My son plays video games,as do I.

You can beat the next level with some tact and grace, or you can kick and scream when you dont get your way.

At the end of the day, it still rings true.

" It's not if you win, it's how you play the game"

I'm not quite sure if its funny, or very sad, that I'm employing the same advice I give my young son when responding to your post Key.Nevertheless here it is.

1.Treat others as you would like to be treated.

2.Share with others.

3.Wait your turn.

Maybe this will help?

Miani,

I treat others as I want to be treated. I share my honest feelings with others. I wait my turn.

You cannot help me. I am an adult. Do not try and change me.
