An Open Letter Too Congressman Stearns, Placed on the blogs at http://www.myclaysun.com/blog

On May 1st 2008, Sent too congressman Stearns @ http://www.house.gov/stearns/  on May 1st 2008

Congressman Stearns why has my country forsaken me? Why is our country giving our work to illegal immigrants, instead of hard working, law abiding Americans, or legal immigrants who follow our laws to get here. Why does my government turn its head knowing full well the laws in our land are being broken by illegal immigrants, and employers who hire them?

We, (my family) own a company that we have been growing for two years of struggle, and hard work building our clientele. We have always stayed busy, by word of mouth based on our reputation with very little advertising. We have always been booked at least four weeks in advance. I know the economy is slowing, but yesterday was a sad day in our company’s history. I know that illegal immigration affects the economy of this country; I just didn’t think it would hit us directly, call me naïve if you wish, but yesterday illegal immigration showed it’s ugly head on our door step. Yesterday we lost two clients to Mexicans. Yesterday I had those clients tell me that they had work, but they could not give it to us; because they could hire the Mexicans so much cheaper.

Congressman Stearns, how can we compete with the illegals in this country when they can under cut our prices by such a wide margin? How can we compete when 49.2% of every dollar we make goes to workman’s comp? How can we compete when we are required to carry a half a million dollars in liability insurance before we can even show up at most of our job sites?  How can we compete when our fuel bill has sky rocketed too over $1,250 per month? Today; is the first time in our company’s history that we are contemplating closing our doors?

Today is a sad day for many Americans, and it is all because my country has forsaken the citizens of this great country, by not enforcing the laws on illegal immigration. Today; corporate greed that ignores our laws shows through as bright as the Florida sunshine. Today brings a heavy burden to my household because of the insanity of illegal immigration.

Congressman Stearns, Freespeech claims that you are an honorable man, with concern and compassion for you constituents, and that you respond to your communications. So I must now ask, what are your intentions on this matter, and how do you, and our government plan on correcting the wrongful burdens placed on us by illegal immigration?  With all due respect winn1955

Winn I can certainly understand you plight, as it is happening to Americans all over our great nation. And you are right our government turns a blind eye to the undisputable damage it causes to our country.  If we take a step back and look we would see how illegal immigration affects every aspect of our lives, and most certainly in a negative way.

The way I see it is when illegal aliens act out of self-interest and break our immigration laws, apologists for illegal immigration portray that as being noble. When employers act out of self-interest and illegally hire, a low-wage illegal alien, that’s just the free market at work. But if ordinary Americans, motivated by self-interest, demand that laws against illegal immigration be enforced, that's called "toxic nativism.Local jurisdictions and counties have a right and a responsibility to institute and enforce laws that protect the interests of law-abiding residents and property owners. The impact of illegal immigration on education, health care and law enforcement is felt at the local level. There is nothing toxic or nativist about local governments deciding not to provide nonessential benefits and services to people who have no right to be in the community in the first place, or to crack down on employers who hire them.

These counties, like a growing number of local governments, are doing what the federal government should be doing. They are removing the incentives for illegal immigration, which is the only realistic approach to dealing with the problem. The only way to fight this travesty is to contact your State and federal representatives and demand that they start removing the incentives that draw illegal immigration to our country and your communities.

Make a stand and fight for your rights as an American. Call your congressman and demand that they support the Save Act, and tell them they need to sign the discharge petition that will force the bill to come to a vote. The Speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi Is trying her best to have the Save Act stalled on the floor and to attach an amnesty bill to it. Stand and fight.

Winn1955 if anyone is unsatisfied with the scourge of illegal immigration that is destroying the very fabric that holds us as a Sovran Nation we must all stand and make it satisfactory. May god bless your company, and to help you carry the torch to keep our nation free and prosperous. Stand your ground and fight for what is right. Freespeech.
