Change Anyone?
Part 1 Remember the election in 2006? Part 2: PART 3: Submitted by SoloVoce on Tue, 05/06/2008 - 2:26pm.
Smuncey, Again, I have to thank you for the opportunity. I usually don't use emoticons or computer/text messaging shorthand, but this is one time I can. LOL! I need a good one since I ran into a small woodworking problem & the CUBS have been going into self destruct mode. It made my day. All I ask is that you don't ask me to give individual explanations of what is wrong with your post. I'm sorry, but I just don't have that kind of time & there just isn't that much space. Besides, I don't have an historian, journalist or logician at my beck & call. Besides, I probably wouldn't want to waste the money, even if I could afford them. On the taxes. Please let all of us know when taxes, or the price of anything else, for that matter went down, as a rule, not as an exception. Please, also let us all know when a politician hasn't promised to lower taxes. Remember this, "Read my lips. No new taxes?" Sound familiar? Democrat or Republican, when it comes to taxes, they all say pretty much the same thing. On Part 3. You had better sit down for this one. On each & every point....I agree with you that something needs to be done. And I'll even give you the benefit of the doubt on the accuracy of the stats. But now, here's the rest of the story. I hope that you're still sitting. You are doing something that any good politician does, so you should actually be commended for it. You, by your first statements, hoping that those who read this will consider it THE defining statement, imply that all of the people who have examined the monetary ramifications of this Middle East action are wrong. Then, you fail to substantiate your insinuation. Then, on top of that, you obfuscate the issue by bringing in your 14 statements, even if they are accurate, in hopes of linking the two. Nice try, but no ceegar. Now, knowing you as a self described, "TRUE," conservative Republican, I can't help but think that somewhere in the back of your mind, you had hoped, by putting it in print, to convince the readers that all of these ills are the sole fault of the radical, left wing, liberal Democrats. I hope I got that right. Well, here's a news flash. NOT! For some very good reasons. The problems that you enumerated have been growing through the passage of many administrations, conservative & liberal. It is not a new phenomenon, just as it is not a new phenomenon of someone attempting to place blame on the other side. But let's take it a step further. If your current Golden Boy in the WH is that good, as you have claimed or implied in various blogs, why, oh why, try to imply blame on a Democratic Congress that has been in place for 16 months what a majority, rubber stamp Republican Congress couldn't get done in over five years, especially with the aid of a president who has never been shy to issue an Executive Order or a signing statement? Funny, you never did mention that as I'm sure you can't, especially when asked to substantiate your statements in the past with no results. Smuncey my man, it seems that you still don't get it. Not everyone is so naive (And that's as nice as I can put it) that they are willing to accept as fact something which is written, heard or seen. Some of us actually do a little research. Some of us actually seek out the views of others, regardless of the viewpoint, who are well versed &/or more learned than we are. I know it might sound scandalous, but there are many of us who actually take the time to think about what is not only being said or written or heard, but look a bit deeper than the surface. But you just keep feeding us with the golden nuggets of copy & paste wisdom. Times are tough & as I said, we could all use a good laugh. I know that I'm feeling much better now. Thanks for the laugh, I need that. JATFUR. RichK PS. Just because something is the greatest, does that mean we should NOT try to make it better or keep it the greatest? Taking things out of context? Comprehension problems? RK

Smuncey, Doing my best Lt. Columbo impression.... just one more thing as pertains to your list, Part one. Sorry, but these questions might prove to be a bit embarrasing. I just couldn't let you get away with it. As I said in my reply above, some of us do have the capacity to think, among other things. Not to worry. I'll give you plenty of time to do another copy & paste to save you the rigors of doing any kind of research & other things, as Mel Brooks might say. 1.Since, by your time reference, a Democratic Congress was in place for four months, what led up to the figures you gave & where are they now? Are you now going to tell us that the president has absolutely nothing to do in "DECIDING" on how the country should be run? I also noticed that you did not include the figures that show what the consumers think @ how the president is doing his job. By the way, what ever happened to your philosophy that says we shouldn't care what the polls show. I assume that consumer confidence numbers were gathered by polls. 2. You fail to mention what the price of a gallon of gas was when Bush took office & what it did during the 5+ years of a rubber stamp, majority Republican Congress. How could you not include THAT in your efforts to be FAIR & BALANCED? You remember FAB. don't you? 3. You fail to show what the unemployment rate was when Bush took office & what the effects of conditions were affecting employment that brought those figures to the present . You also failed to show a cause & effect relationship between change in congress & change in the unemplyment rates. Fair & balanced or lack of research? I know. Copy & paste is so much easier than contributing any personal effort or research. "Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen" Very good. One slight problem. You again, have failed to offer any explanation, I think hoping that some will be naive enough to assume that is the fault of the Democrats. You have failed to offer any explanation or documentation as to why & how these conditions came to be. It couldn't possibly be the fault of prior governing, or should I say, inept governing, could it? Perish the thought. Research & analysis can be such a burden, can't it. So can original thinking. Once again, you're right. Congress does indeed make the laws & the president has to work with what is handed to him. For whatever reason, you forgot to mention the veto. You also forgot to mention outright rejection. Once again, nice try, but no ceegar. Not even a kewpey doll. Man, you've got to get with the program. Any one can copy & paste in the hopes that there are some mooks who will readily accept it. But that's only going to last so long. I keep telling you that there really are some of us out here who actually think! You have my word on it. JATFUR. Very nice job.
It's just a shame that there are so many people that just don't get it even when it's right in front of them.
We could do so much better in this country without becomming socialist, and giving even more of our hard earned money to a governemt with ambitions of growing faster than a Chia Pet.
