Trial for former Clay Public Works director postponedThe criminal trial of former Clay County Public Works Director Arthur Ivey, expected to begin next week, has been postponed. The trial is tentatively being rescheduled for mid-August because the discovery process is still under way, Assistant State Attorney Stephen Siegel said today. Ivey, 53, faces four counts of official misconduct, four counts of grand theft, four counts of littering, two counts of violating state Department of Environmental Protection rules and six counts of petty theft. The charges stem from a state and federal investigation into government corruption and illegal dumping in Clay County. The probe began in August 2004. Ivey and County Manager Bob Wilson resigned under fire in April 2005. Ivey, County Commissioner Christy Fitzgerald and two others were indicted in March 2006. In three different trials, Fitzgerald was acquitted of felony official misconduct and petty theft charges. Her trials were moved to St. Johns County because of publicity. Ivey’s trial is expected to be held in Clay, Siegel said. Related: MyClaySun's blog | login or register to post comments | printer friendly version | Tags: arthur ivey | just in | public works

Unless they have better evidence against Ivey then they did Christy they might as well just acquit him and save the taxpayers money on the expense of a trial. Can't acquit one and not the other...unless they have a lot more against Ivey. Submitted by clayviewpoint on Fri, 06/06/2008 - 2:01pm.
what could there be to still discover? has his lawyer asked for a change in venue yet so that St. Johns County people can be bothered like they were with his cell phone mate? It's been over 2 years since the indictment so why is justice so swift? People are talking about ...Here are the recent blog postings with the most comments. |

Thank you for clearing up this information. In the story I've linked from the TU it states 20 counts and the records show different information. It states the following:
"Meanwhile, the other Clay official who was indicted, former Public Works Director Arthur Ivey, is expected to go to trial Monday. Ivey faces four counts of official misconduct, four counts of grand theft, four counts of littering, two counts of violating state Department of Environmental Protection rules and six counts of petty theft."

Court records show counts 3,6,15,17, and 20 have been dismissed. It also shows his court date as Jury trial 8/18/2008 at 9:00 AM.
