WELCOME ANOTHER CANDIDATE IN CCC DISTRICT 3 RACE

Just checked the SOE website and see that R.G. "Ron" Raymond has qualified for the above as NPA (No Party Affiliation)!

I'm confused.  So does that mean he'll be on the ballot in August or November?

My guess is November

I will be on the November Ballot with the winner of the republican primary i.e.

Travis Cummings or Debby Terry

Welcome Ron. I'm glad to see that you are giving it a try. Win or lose this is a good thing to have the election for that seat go to November.

Did you make your trip to SOE today or will it be later in the month? I was the second one there this morning. Chris Chambliss beat me. But then he works there.

Glad to see you have joined the race for D3.  What is your position on the 5/2 issue? Do you think Clay County needs 2 more Commissioners?  I'm also interested on how you feel about the next Charter Review Commission, what criteria would you use to select people from your District to serve, and what do you think about repeated participation on the CRC?  Do you think it should serve as a political stepping stone?

I can't vote for you but I'm still interested in all Commissioners.  Is D3 where we have more contenders from Watson?

OK, thanks for the answers.

But I'm still confused about the NPA issue.  Does that mean anyone who wants to run in November can just declare NPA and bypass the Primary?

The NPA for D-3 will go directly to the November ballot because there are no other NPA candidates. My understanding is that if there were more than one then they would be on the Primary to determine which one went to the November ballot.

Perhaps we'll see this in action some day in Clay County. Wouldn't it be great to see the entire process at work with multiple Republican, Democrat and NPA candidates on the Primary and then to see a full ballot in November?

Maybe in 2010 if we can get someone besides Republicans to run. The law of averages says even a Democrat or an NPA has a good idea once in a while. Actually I think they have a lot more good ideas than people give them credit for. We've just got to get them to run first so we can hear what they have to say.
