Enough alreadyIt's bad enough that we have Sheriff Election signs next to every light pole on Blanding and everywhere else throughtout Clay County, Even spotted some in Duval County on Argyle but now I have to put up with campaign signs for Carol Studdort (sp.) at the intersection of Old Jennings and Brannon Field. Last time a checked her District 2 was over in the Orange Park area, Blairmore not on Brannon Field. We have to put up with Lisa Grahmn in the Old Jennings area.
Where are the sign Nazi's when you really need one. And another thing how about term limits for School Board members? when I lived off Kingsley eon's ago She was our school board member when my kids where in Elementary now they've just about finished college and she's still around. Time for new blood. Submitted by ex-oficio on Mon, 07/14/2008 - 8:02am.
We would all be better off if people like you didn't vote

Ex, Care to embellish any on that statement? Regardless of the rule of thumb there are always exceptions. "Familiarity breeds contempt"? I don't doubt that there are people out there who have served in elected positions for years who truly serve the best interests of the people, however they're almost extinct, few and far between. Those who serve our goverment in elected positions are a far cry from the patriots who fought, and then served in elected office at the dawn of this nation. It's ALL about the money these days, black and white no longer exists in goverment, it is nearly all shades of gray. Without money, you die if you can't afford medical care, without money you will not get 'your day in court", there is a price tag on justice. As for the signs, they're annoying more then anything but at the same time there are people who will vote who decide their choices based upon the signs on the road because they make no effort otherwise to get to know their candidates. It would be a full time job to spend time going to each and every person who is running for an office you have to vote for. Then you have to decide if you believe what they're telling you. Unfortunately a great many voters are too busy just trying to survive to spend this kind of time. They believe their goverment doesn't listen to them anyway so why bother with the effort. Regardless of which side people are on with candidates or issues I think it is the role of any good citizen to not discourage anyone from voting. I'm hoping to see a record turn out in November. I'm hoping that what I see in my own circle of life, the people I talk to, the discontent that exists is validated in the next election. When I said I see a changing tide that is not said to lead, it is merely what I am experiencing. I spoke with a local school teacher a few weeks ago when we were both waiting in the hair salon. She was obviously a bright and articulate educator yet she was clueless on a few key issues. After our conversation and the information I gave her on where she could go to read about these things she walked away with a determination to not only get involved but get those around her involved. I'm a big believer in new blood, but don't always vote that way. Change for the sake of change is not always good. Mostly now though, I am following the money and my vote may be cast simply based upon who candidates accept money from. Ex I don't know which blogger you were talking to, but I think that mindset is negative. I want everyone to cast an informed vote based upon their own beliefs or principles. I understand that mindset and am even capable of it, but it's one I would resist because its just not right. WE, THE PEOPLE are the heart of this great nation, and if as a people we walk away and leave it to those whose purpose is for their own personal or professional gain and nothing more........we are lost as a truly free society.

I do believe he was talking to me, probably regarding my comment on term limits. I didn't want to mislead. I don't cast my vote on the type of sign. I cast my vote on experience and past job performance. In my opinion it is time for new blood on the School Board. I'm afraid that Wayne Bolla is not running for re-election due to the fact that he is tired of beating his head against the wall. 15 - 20 years in my opinion is just too long. Without new blood and new ideas things tend to stagnate and I'm afraid that this is what is happening to the School Board. 2 years ago the tune was at 100 million in debt so where are we today? Why isn't enough insite being included into future plans when building that we have to add 5 - 10 portables per year? Tecnology is good also but to the tune of 24 - 45 million per school. If "ex-oficio" means what I think it means maybe their view is why they are now known as "EX", and maybe it is they who should not vote in this county but possilby somewhere else.

Clay viewpoint, I agree with you about all the signs, they are a blight.
However, you are incorect about the school board. They represent a defined district, but they are elected COUNTY WIDE. Hence the signs for Mrs. Studdard.
Is longevity alone a reason to get "new blood"? If a person has served in office a long time is that bad? I look at performance and integrity when I vote (or not) for an incumbent.
