Doesn't anyone in Clay understand a political power grab??? I posted about Ricks running for two elected offices at one time - one a countywide party office and one as Supervisor of Elections. I was amazed how some people who think they have good intentions - or an overriding love for Republicans more than common sense - could defend Ricks.
Why would Ricks run for two offices at once??? Either because she wants to make sure of a win for at least one race and have some base of power (since Ricks is giving up her Green Cove Springs Council seat, but only at the last minute when the winner for Supervisor of Elections takes office; apparently Ricks just can't stand to give up one moment of power), or they just think they know better than anyone else what's good for all of us, and want to make sure their will is imposed on all.
Doesn't anybody who reads this know anything about history in Clay County politics??? Doesn't anybody understand the powerbrokers like the Halls, the Lancasters??? Doesn't anyone know that Ricks is part of Jett's attempt to be the main power broker in Clay??? She already is his employee in the Clerk of the Court office, now, she wants to be a constitutional officer, just like him.
Ricks is scary for anyone who is a thinking voter. There are 64,000 registered Republicans in Clay, 30,000 registered Democrats, and 20,000 independents. Ricks has said in public she intends to run the Supervisor of Elections office as a partisan office. Does that mean every Democrat, and independent won't have the same rights as Republicans??? Since Holt and then Kirkman have been running the office, no one ever heard a complaint about unfairness in the elections office. Ricks must want to go back to the bad old days when the morning after election day, a "cut the pie" meeting was held in the backroom of the elections office, and if the voters didn't vote the right way, well, votes were allegedly changed to reflect the right outcome for an election.
Ricks can't be the right choice for anyone who understands fairness in an elections office. She can't be the right choice for any thinking Democrat or independent. It's past time to end the political dynasties and good old boys in Clay. Ricks just wants to be a part of a new dynasty, and just hungry for power.
Think!!! Think!!! Think!!! Power to the people!!! Not power to the politicians!!! Deborah L. Ricks and Debbie Ricks are the same person!!! Why is she trying to convince us it's two different people unless she's ashamed to admit the snow job she's trying to pull on us???
