Two women charged with shoplifting at Kohl's in Fleming Island

Melinda Blankenship of St. Augustine and Alicia Metcalf of Green Cove Springs were charged with stealing clothing valued at more than $600.

A security guard reported seeing the women hiding articles of clothing under their children who were sitting in a shopping cart and hiding clothes in a diaper bag.The state was also contacted because the incident occurred in the presence of children.

30-year-old Metcalf is a registered convicted felon and her bond is set at $5,000. She remains in the Clay County Jail. 22-year-old Blankenship also remains in jail held on a $750 bond.

Thanks for posting this article with photos.  Hopefully this sort of continued exposure will shame some of these criminals into thinking twice about their actions.  It is truly dispicable that these women would use their children in their criminal efforts.  I hope they receive appropriate punishment.  Seeing themselves in the news, and knowing that their friends and family are seeing them in all their "glory" may help.  Good Job MCS.  Shame on the two imbeciles - God Bless their poor children.  They're going to need all the help they can get.

I think its pretty sad that people cant be more open minded and understand that not every one is guilty both of the womens charges have been dropped so all that publicity and shame for something they were "accused" of doing.

According to the Clerk of the Court on-line:

Blankenships case is still open, 8/27/08, due back in court 9/10/08.

Metcalf case still open, 8/27/08, due back in court on 9/10/08

So the website is wrong?
