Another SLAPP suit in clay countyAfter reading all the blogs and tags about the suit against the " co-founders"it occured to me we may have another SLAP in clay co. Finding out who is paying Mr. Lyons bill would pretty well verify whether or not it is one. My bet is it is. A tyupical SLAPP is funded by special interest as 90% of rhem are. For bloggers who don't know SLAPP is " Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation " We have had several individuals in Clay who have had this tactic used against them successfully to shut them up.

Ex - Fred; I couldn't agree more nor say it any better. From my conversations there are a lot of people that are getting sick of the same old names and the same old shenanigans. Not one person that I have talked with has been happy about the law suit. There have been a few different ways of expressing their thoughts on this. A couple I can't print here. It would get pulled. Suffice it to say they were not impressed that someone would try to use them as pawns in this power play. They were clearly upset that their rights to vote on these amendments might be usurped by the actions of 1 individual. Not that they all were going to vote yes because there were some that were not. Just that they didn't like the tactics being used and the fact that they may not get to express their opinion in the voting booth. Mike Heemer Submitted by printer on Wed, 07/23/2008 - 1:41pm.
As a fairly new resident of Clay County, I was approached at Lowe's to sign the petition. The gentleman explained about the 5 + 2, then told me what each person's salary was. I gladly signed, what a no brainer! People are talking about ...Here are the recent blog postings with the most comments. |

I noted in the Grab for Power blog the suggestion that those representing the special interests be voted against in the November elections.
As I have stated I have asked more than 200 people what they feel about County Politics and the extreme methods they resort to to intimidate citizens action groups. All expressed feelings of shame and disgust.
It is a shame that those special interests and their puppets do not respect what our forefathers created and sacrificed so much in creating our Constitution. Too many of us live here that believe in those rights. A message must be sent. Respect our Constitution or you will be voted out. Defend our Constitution or be voted out.
Those candidates with potential conflicts of interest with County and Judicial officers must be in support of guranteeing citizen petitions or they must be shown the door at the time of the election.
I do not need to mention names I ask that those of you attending the forums put all candidates for any position on the spot as to their beliefs and what they are willing to do to protect and defend citizen initiatives. Make them speak up. Make them donate to legal defense of non profit citizen initiatives. The CTLAC certainly could use it in the current SLAP case.
Conflicts can be perceived, they can real or potential, Politicians are skilled at dancing and rationalizing their positions. I say make them do the two step instead of the jive. Either their for or against citizen initiatives. No in between.
This is not Dancing with the Stars this is Constitutional Rights issues. One thing I will work for is to cap candidates funding for elections.
Think about it special interests send lots of money sometimes more than the salary of the position. The large amount of money collected should be a red flag to the voters.
Citizen Initiatives currently challenged had thousands of bi-partisan support signatures. I applaud the Bi-partisan effort and I encourage all and them and those involved in the blogs to put pressure on those candidates that are silent about supporting citizen initiatives.
