Fatal crash

James Cassles, 50, of Lochloosa, Fla. died in a accident on Florida 100 near County Road 219 around 11:40 p.m. Aug. 2. Cassles was headed west on Florida 100 on a motorcycle when he passed two cars and struck a car head on in the east bound lane. He was dead at the scene. Kimberly Aher, 40, of Melrose, Fla., driving the vehicle in the east bound lane, was transported to Shands Gainesville with broken bones and head injuries. A 31-year-old passenger in Aher’s vehicle was uninjured.

The man only atempted to pass one vehicle, mine, and did not make it around before hitting the eastbound vehicle.  He had just left the bar in Putnam Hall with another motorcyclist who did successfully pass just before Cassels tried. The other motorcyclist did not stop and never came back.
