Will new theaters improve my life?

Like others I was pleased to learn new theaters would go in off 220.  Currently, I either go to the Clay Theatre in Green Cove or drive to the cinema on Phillips Highway.  It's easier to park and get into, than OP Mall.

However, I did ask myself....will new theaters inprove my life?  Or a Wal-Mart in Green Cove?  Or an electronics store?  I don't believe it will.  I go to see a movie 2 to 3 times a year, so, it's not that big a deal.  As for most other stores, big purchases don't have to be nearby.

Other than some quality restaurants, and perhaps an old time bakery or two, what do we NEED in Clay?

What would improve your life?

(and please don't say another Starbuck's)

As someone who has railed against over development the past two decades, I would have to agree that we certainly don't need another Wal Mart. Lord knows they reproduce like toxic mushrooms as it is.

Like you, if I see one movie a year, that's a lot. Adding to the congestion on 220 would be criminal. Attracting more lame condominium communities is nothing to wish for either.

So, of everything that could be built, the only needs we may have is a really decent bakery and a real Italian deli. I know of none in Clay County and only two bakeries in Jacksonville. We have more than enough fast food places to add in another couple of dozen heart surgeons so no more hamburger joints either.

New Theatres would be great as long as these new ones are not named after "John Trasher!" ( I know his last name is Thrasher....however, I believe the new spelling is appropriate since the Great Clay County Garbage Ripoff is his legacy!
