Amendments Update

I came across this item on floridacapitalnews.com, concerning three of the ammendments we discussed earlier. I thought some of you might be interested.  "The Florida Supreme court will judge the legality of three proposed constitutional amendments early next month."

"The state is appealling Circuit Judge John Cooper's ruling that threw Amendment 5 off the Nov. 4 ballot because he said its title & summary language are misleading."

"Amendment 5 would abolish the required local property tax levy for school support  & require the Legislature to come up with @ $11B in replacement revenue.  That would cut property taxes, on average, 25%."

"Amendment 7 would lift the prohibition of religious institutions receiving state funds.  Amendment 9 would require that 65% of school funding be spent in the classroom, rather than on administration.  Amendment 9 would also allow, but not require, the state to use public money for tuition vouchers."

Due to the Appeal on Amendment 5 the decision by the Court to remove it from the ballot was stayed.  Link to story is below.

Marsha,

Thanks for the link & update.  It's been a while since these issues were mentioned here, so when I came across it, I figured it's a good time for a reminder.  Stay dry & don't party too hard.  JATFUR.
