Man dies when fire rips through Clay County house

A Clay County man died Monday morning after being pulled from a fire at his house about 4 a.m.
Firefighters called to the Dothan Road residence pulled the man from his bedroom and began CPR but were unable to save him, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

The man has not yet been identified. There was no one else in the house, authorities said.

A newspaper carrier called for help after seeing the house on fire. When deputies arrived, flames were coming from the roof and one end of the ranch-style house.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fire.
