My Clay Sun is seeking your nominations for its high school football Player of the Week feature. To nominate a Clay County football player for our weekly honors:

1. Log on to MyClaySun.com after each week’s football games. (If you don’t already have a user name, simply click Create an Account at the top of page. It’s easy.)

2. Find the blog entitled Player of the Week Nominations for that week.

3. Click “Add new comment” beneath that blog entry and write in your nomination. Please include the player’s name, team, position, and the reason for your nomination (describe a great play or plays and/or list statistics from that game to support your selection).

This will help your player get the recognition he deserves, plus we might just use your blog nomination (and name, if you wish to include it) in the My Clay Sun Player of the Week feature. Nominations will be accepted up until noon the Monday after the game.

Player of the Week is sponsored by Jax Federal Credit Union.

Once again we can't count those Fleming Island Eagles out, those young men come out to play football, I will have to nominate that young man Malcolm Jones (RB) again this week for player of the week, the kid can really get through those holes, and then all you see is him down field with no competition behind him. Malcolm Jones is only 15 years old I hear, I watched this young man play football at OPAA he was awesome then, Malcolm Jones scored a 73 yard sprint-1 TD and had a total of 94 yards on 8 carries. From last weeks game and this one, running back Jones has 287 yards in 2 games.

Malcolm Jones should receive Player of the Week from Fleming Island High School, the running back has averaged 143 yards rushing  per game this season already.  Jones had a 73 yard sprint down field after finding that hole  he is very capable of getting through quickly, you can't turn away on Jones plays or you will miss the outcome.

Austin Johnson led the Ridgeview Panthers with 2 interceptions in their game against Matanzas High School. His "sure hands" paid off big for the team this week in their 49-8 win~
