Bail out at a discount

Bail out at a discount

There are approximately three hundred million Americans in this country. Give all of us one million, with the promise that, if you have a mortgage it must be paid from the proceeds. Results, the banks would get paid the money owed them, and I would have eight hundred and fifty thousand dollars stimulate the hell out of the economy, and have fun doing it. Could this really work???

Winn

I love the idea.

To bad the folks Washington won't play along.

Cut the head of every household a chech for 1 mill.

Then we put all our kids through college paid in advance.

We invest some in the market to secure our own finacial future.

We spend more stimulating the market.

We create new busnesses and jobs.

Everyone can buy their own Health insurance.

Everyone pays off or buys outright their own homes.

For those that don't invest right and make the right moves with those funds, and you know there will be some. Well they go back to the jobs they had before.

The only problem I see is if the government cut me a check for 1 mill. I would not be working anymore.

What would happen if everyone got that check, and no one came to work the next day. LOL

But I still love it, Give me 1 mill.

Give the money to the working American. The government has to know that we would put the money back into the economy! But then again, TH is right, some of us wouldn't be working anymore (lol)! But no, the "people in charge" will figure out a way to help out their buddies and put the debt on us. I think winn1955 or TH should run for president. I'd vote for you!!

Winn, My steeler hat is off to you for making the most common sense solution to the economic mess created by our great leaders in Washington.

I think your blog and idea should be sent to every congressman/woman and all the executive branch.

There is one problem with your solution how does it protect the golden parachutes and the big salaries of the dip sh__s in Washington and Wall Street.  They too would receive a million under your proposal, but obviously that is not enough for them.

Not only would the government benefit, it would also cost them less since they would be getting approximately 20% back in taxes.  Homes would be paid off and there would not be any defaults to bail out, and people would have money to spend for christmas, spurring the economy.  What a plan.

Too bad our leaders do not have the simplicity in problem solving you have.  Now how are you going to stop those in the County government from screwing up your taxes and the Beltway debacle.  I can not wait to see your simple brilliant plant to correct that problem.

Did anybody take a second to do the math.  It would cost more to give every american 1 Million dollars than the entire 700 Billion dollar package.

Although, i do like the idea, i like the idea that if we are willing to spend 700 billion on dummys who ran their companies into the ground and dummys who took out a mortgage more than they could afford, then let' split that amount up between a lowered amount of Americans.

We could give every American 18+ 250K est., which is a fine amount for me.

Winn,

Great Idea!

While the idea would cause a boost in inflation, overall it would be cheaper than the present plan since the present plan would have "spin-offs" and repetition.

Now, there would have to a provision that any person or entity that received the $1M then must pay off all mortgage debt or remain current on any remaining mortgage debt.  Failure to do so results in a Lifetime Ban on any new credit and MANDATORY Federal Prison sentence of 5 years per million owed.

It works for me!

Sorry, the math does not work the way you computed.  300,000,000 x 1,000,000 equals three trillion dollars not 700 billion.  700 billion is too much to waste to start with let us not waste more in the hands of the same people who have already bought too much on credit....they obviously cannot manage their money which is why they are in crisis.

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

They can start sending us installments, of say $10,000 a month. Surprised

$200,000 x 300,000,000 will solve this.  I'm going shopping.

Great idea.

I know that y'all are just playin' around, but can you imagine what would happen if everybody became "rich" overnight.  Almost nobody would want to work, which would mean that when we tried to spend our new-found "wealth", there would be almost no services or products available.  Talk about an economy-killer...

Which brings us to the next point:  Have most Americans been livin' too high on the hog for too long?  Do most Americans even know how to balance their own budgets, let alone that of their country?  When the vast majority of folks are living from paycheck to paycheck, the slightest economic slowdown (a missed paycheck or two) throws the whole country into a tailspin.  Could that be a big part of the reason we're in the mess we see today?

Do you have trouble finding people who want to work long and hard?  Yup.  Most people nowadays wants to work slow and easy.  Unfortunately, we may have to wait for a real depression comes along to find folks who want to work long and hard... just to stay alive... one meal at a time.

One final observation:  It's the people who figure out that material things do not bring happiness who will be the big winners.  Most of today's Americans have a lot of learnin' to do in that regard, and the lesson can be mighty painful until it is learned.
