Another Sign Of The Times

For a second, I thought I was having a senior moment.  But I cleaned my glasses & checked it again, just to make sure.  Cruising through the news, I came across this story but at first, thought I got mixed up & was on the blogs here at MCS.

From the Drudge Report, a story taken from Chanel 13, central Florida, Barefoot Bay, dateline, 09.13.08.  A registered Democrat until Obama won the nomination, Andy Lacasse drew some attention, along with the ire of some of his neighbors when he put up a sign in his front yard that read, "Obama half - breed Muslin."

When interviewed, Mr. Lacasse was quoted as saying, "I got nothing good to say about Obama."  "If I see anybody touching that sign, I got a club sitting right over there."  "That's the Democratic Party.  They're nothing but a bunch of cutthroats.  Like I always said, you show me an honest politician, I'll show you an honest thief."

How thought provoking.  So much insight.  How typical.  But it was when a neighbor was being interviewed for comments that I thought I had made a wrong right turn & that I was somehow transported back to our blog.  When asked to comment on this situation, a neighbor said, "When you use words in that nature, people tend to discount anything you have to say.  If you're going to attract attention, at least make sure your spelling is right."  You see, in his best self righteous, unbiased, albeit, substandard thinking processes, Mr. Lacasse misspelled "Muslim," spelling it instead, "MusliN."  (cap is mine)  It tends to lend credence to the phrase, "deja vu, all over again."  Or, to put it in the words of the old TV commercial, "A mind is a terrible thing to waste."  JATFUR.
