You may recall several months ago I wrote on this blog that when the new BCC commissioners took office, they began discussing scrapping the charter. I said that it was because their campaign contributors wanted to scrap it because they were losing too many ballot initiatives to citizens (term limits, single-district elections, etc.).
I also wrote that I thought that the CRC would front for those interests when they met.
Was it Mr. Kerekes who brought it up at a recent CRC meeting?
While the comission may very well be voices of the special interests as you say Tom, I disagree about them wanting the charter gone. That my friend is " smoke and mirrors " just like their sales pitch when it passed. Home town rule, which ended up one man rule. The records clearly speak for them self. They would love for us to believe that the BCC wants it gone to get their pay back, Knowing the people won't do it. They only ise the BCC today as a decoy. The special interest people never had it so good. They don't even have J.P.'s money to work against. They were mot for the same things, or at least not for the same reason Funny that now all they have to get ellected are people too dumb to get it and then they can ignore them. sweet deal
Bottom line the BCC works for the County Manager, Who works for you know who
