A native Chicagoan, I migrated to Florida for college and graduated in 2005 with degrees in Creative Writing, Theatre and Literature (minor). Having previously worked on academic papers and publications for a total of seven years (with some healthcare jobs in between), I am really enjoying my work with My Clay Sun and the Times-Union. For My Clay Sun, I manage the Leisure and Pets sections, and my writing, photos and videos increasingly appear in My Clay Sun, the Duval Sun publications and on Jacksonville.com. I also have the privilege of designing several specialty publications in Clay County and am a member of the Times-Union Tour Guides and Diversity Committee, and can be heard every Saturday and Monday morning reading the news briefs for WJCT 89.9 National Public Radio.

My thirst for knowlege landed me with two college degrees namely Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy and a Master's degree in Education major in Special Education. I've been teaching children with special needs for 10 years now and I'm loving every minute of it! I started my career early and am 30 years of age as of the moment. In the next 5 years I plan to go back to school to pursue my doctorate in Physical Therapy. This summer I will start working on my downloadable e-books which is not only helpful for others but also fulfilling for me. I enjoy keeping myself busy most of the time! Just 2 years in Florida...where we joined our three children and 4 grandchildren. Previously lived in Virginia

Raised in Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky I have strong familial ties to Kentucky but to Fleming Island as well. I consider myself a city girl, but have lived on a farm in the boonies with all the accutrements: horses, cows, chickens, goats (much prefer the city life) I am a typical M.O.T. mother (yea, I do nag) I have two wonderful daughters who have presented me with 3 gorgeous grandkids! I am the 'mom' of two little senior dogs that I rescued from an animal Shelter: Mooshu (Shih Tzu) and Oreo (dachsund/cocker mix) both about 8 yrs old, they are our constant companions. I am married, (on our 37th year together). My husband was considered tops in his field and is now fully retired from the AF (Flight Surgeon)Now that he is retired and at home he is "King of The Remote" (gotta let him have control for SOMETHING gals!) Professionally, I am a managerial and critical care RN, with voluntary additional RN certifications in two specialities. I am a Reiki master with interest in alternative and complimentary therapies used in conjunction with conventional medicine. I am pursuing a master's degree, albeit slowly with more sabbiticals than I originally planned (I might add) in counseling.
