People interested in Music

I have been the nosy sort who loves to watch what the world is up to since my eyes focused after birth. I have been a working journalist since 1980, when my newly won liberal arts degree got me a job at a weekly newspaper in South Carolina. In those days, we actually still used typewriters and laid out the pages by hand. The pay was low and has not gotten all that much better since. But at least now we have computer writing programs that tell us as soon as we make a spelling mistake, cameras that can erase bad shots as soon as we take them and a Web site where we can post news online as soon as it happens! Still, the bottom line remains the same. I'm still the nosy sort who loves to watch what the world is up to. Join me.

A native Chicagoan, I migrated to Florida for college and graduated in 2005 with degrees in Creative Writing, Theatre and Literature (minor). Having previously worked on academic papers and publications for a total of seven years (with some healthcare jobs in between), I am really enjoying my work with My Clay Sun and the Times-Union. For My Clay Sun, I manage the Leisure and Pets sections, and my writing, photos and videos increasingly appear in My Clay Sun, the Duval Sun publications and on Jacksonville.com. I also have the privilege of designing several specialty publications in Clay County and am a member of the Times-Union Tour Guides and Diversity Committee, and can be heard every Wednesday morning reading the news briefs for WJCT 89.9 National Public Radio.

I have lived in the Jacksonville area all of my life and in Orange Park for approximately 35 years. I have two sons who graduated from OP schools and local colleges. I have two wonderful Grandchildren age 2 and 5 and soon a third will be born. I graduated from JU and Nova Southeastern. I recently retired after working 21 yrs with one company and 10 years with another.

Who am I? As for most people, there are a lot of different answers to that question. For the purposes of My Clay Sun, I am a sports writer and photographer. And while that's certainly not nothing, it's not everything, either. A literature professor once told me his theory that at any given time we embody a thousand different "selves." I thought this observation quite astute, since it helped explain a lot of the confusion that goes on in here. Most people tend to define themselves by their past and present, and for retired Supreme Court justices and ex-professional football players, that's a pretty good deal -- though it's also kind of sad to know that what defines you the most is in the past. Fortunately for me, I have no such great claims to the past. Therefore, I will define myself as I think a lot of people would like to define themselves: by their dreams of the future. I used to want to write the great American novel. Now, I think I'd be happy just to read one, and then write a novel that would help pay a few bills. I'd like to explore human consciousness -- mine, to be specific, since it's the only one I can really be certain exists -- and discover new ways of seeing and thinking that will keep me interested in my life and the world for however many years I might be allowed to wander this Earth. I hope that somehow this will help illuminate my life, but more importantly, I hope it can somehow help to illuminate the lives of others as well. Beyond that, a nice bottle of red every now and then, a good steak and potato, and maybe an occasional rousing set of doubles with a few precisely placed passing shots down the line would be nice. A 2007 UNF graduate, with a BA in Communications, I seem to have found myself working in the most unlikely place for me - in the real estate market. Although I'm not trying to sell homes, I create marketing material and other PR functions for the NEFMLS. I am also a contractor for Morris Digital Works that works on Jacksonville.com's real estate website.

Me? What can you say about yourself without feeling very self-absorbed? Well, let's start with my job. I am one of the Page Designers for your newspaper, My Clay Sun. I love my job and hope I am doing your community a service. I love to watch movies, listen to music and play golf. I drive all around Duval and the surrounding counties [especially Clay] to find those remote green-meadows to hit the ball around.

We are the Music Theatre Players from Orange Park High School. Currently, we're putting on "The Wiz" starting March 13th and running through March 15th. Show starts at 7:30pm and tickets are $7 at the door. We hope you all will come to the OPHS Cafetorium to be delightfully entertained.

I am a 36 year old single working mother. I have a 15 year old daughter. I am an Orange Park native....grew up in Dr Inlet. I enjoy my career in surgical services, and my family and friends are my world!

Raised in Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky I have strong familial ties to Kentucky but to Fleming Island as well. I consider myself a city girl, but have lived on a farm in the boonies with all the accutrements: horses, cows, chickens, goats (much prefer the city life) I am a typical M.O.T. mother (yea, I do nag) I have two wonderful daughters who have presented me with 3 gorgeous grandkids! I am the 'mom' of two little senior dogs that I rescued from an animal Shelter: Mooshu (Shih Tzu) and Oreo (dachsund/cocker mix) both about 8 yrs old, they are our constant companions. I am married, (on our 37th year together). My husband was considered tops in his field and is now fully retired from the AF (Flight Surgeon)Now that he is retired and at home he is "King of The Remote" (gotta let him have control for SOMETHING gals!) Professionally, I am a managerial and critical care RN, with voluntary additional RN certifications in two specialities. I am a Reiki master with interest in alternative and complimentary therapies used in conjunction with conventional medicine. I am pursuing a master's degree, albeit slowly with more sabbiticals than I originally planned (I might add) in counseling.
