And The Sign Said........

For those of you who like to have fun laughing at superstitious stuff, here are some signs.

Actual signs that the END OF TIMES might actually be arriving. (Que scary music here)

1.  Drought, TS Fay, flooding, clean up & a hurricane to follow.

2.  Local elections will be over & the outlook for fewer ridiculous blogs, until the next time.  (Sorry kids.  Not all news is good news)

3.  National elections will be over & the outlook for less mud slinging & fewer ridiculous blogs, until the next time.  (Same as above)

4.  CCAC has not been a front page story.

"Best Phrase" Contest

Bloggers,

This came to me last night having returned to this blog site after several hours away and there was a plethora of comments on a thread I had been following. What I wrote wasn't what ended up being posted but in the end, I really liked a phrase that came out of it that I didn't use.

Here's the thing, there are a lot of contenders for Best Blogging Phrase out here on MCS but what I'm proposing (and this message is for CCC, Uncle Rich, OneMann, finder, lilyslore - especially lily - smunsey and all the other great writing bloggers) is that you write one phrase and we get to comment on who's phrase (one word or greater not to exceed a sentence) is the Best Blogging Phrase.

Country Music Lovers!

"You guys should check out my friend,  Craig Hand. He's going to be singing out at the Seafood Factory on Friday the 16th in Fleming Island (old players grill location on 220), it's going to be a great show! I hope to meet some of you there!  Have a great day!!

Poppy's Halloween

Ok I'm one of those idiots that dresses up their animals for Halloween.   Well, maybe not such an idiot as her costume came from the dollar store.  My grandkids just love these little videos and it took me a little over an hour to take the pictures, make the video and throw it up on Youtube.  I still don't know how to put it up on this site so here is the link.

The Hunt

Puzzle lovers, and I think you know who you are, I would like to offer for your enjoyment, a site to visit. Almost every year, Dave Barry and the Miami Herald put on an event unlike any other in the nation. It is a huge out door funfest of puzzles of a mind bending nature. I am cut and pasting the blog entry from Dave Barry's blog which will show you pictures, and explain puzzle by puzzle how it all worked. I am also pasting the site that has just the puzzles and solutions. I have long wanted to bring this experience to Jacksonville but everyone I approached from radio stations to the Times-Union just refused to consider it stating that the citizenry of Northeast Florida just is not smart enough to do it. I constantly disagree so maybe some interest can be drummed up here in ClayCounty. I hope to get more of a response than I did in suggesting a Book Reading Club.

Eat at Chili's, help St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

From now through Sept. 30, going out to eat is an easy way to help kids with cancer.

Chili's Grill and Bar has partnered with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in the fourth annual in-restaurant Create-A-Pepper to Fight Childhood Cancer campaign.

Eating at Chili's counts for more on Monday, Sept. 24, when they will donate 100% of its restaurant profits to St. Jude's. Last year's campaign raise a combined $5.2 million for the research-based hospital.

Other ways to help:

* Make a donation directly to St. Jude in restaurant and color a pepper
* Purchase customizable Create-a-Pepper t-shirts, dog tags or gift cards (St. Jude's will receive $1 from every $25 card purchased).
* Visit www.createapepper.com for more information and opportunities.

Here's To Your Health

It’s not often an alcoholic beverage makes its way to the cover of Fortune magazine, but that’s exactly what happened with red wine in February.

The cover story “Drink Wine and Live Longer: The exclusive story of the biotech startup searching for anti-aging miracle drugs” discusses the agent identified as reservratrol, which has been shown to ward off the negatively-perceived side effects of aging, such as Alzheimer’s and other illnesses impacting the brain.
