Every day I log on to the Animal Rescue Site.  It's corporate funded and provides food for animals for each click (only one a day).  There are 5 other tabs you can click on also for additional help for rainforests, etc.  Today another contest begins where you can vote for your favorite shelter and there's a total cash giveaway of $100,000 given to the shelters with the most votes.  I cast my vote for the Safe Animal Shelter and will do so each day until the contest ends in December.  Here's the link - everything is pretty clear.  After you click the button, you can vote for your favorite shelter.  The Safe Animal Shelter is in the list and so far has one vote - mine.

HERO is a male brindle bulldog mix, about 3 years old. He was barely more than skin and bones when found as a stray and brought to the shelter on March 8, 2008. He has gained some weight and is a very friendly boy who loves to be petted and walked on a leash.

LUCY is a 7-year-old female Basset Hound. Lucy was rescued from Clay County Animal Control. She was treated for heartworms and is ready for her new home. She needs someone to play with her as she is very affectionate. She weighs in at about 25 pounds.

DELILAH is a beautiful older lady seeking a quiet, loving home. Likes to retrieve toys. Very energetic for her age without the puppy chewing habits (a big bonus). Likes other dogs too, as long and they are not jumping on her!

MISSY is a 2-3 year old Shih Tzu mix who was brought in as a stray on February 13, 2008. She was diagnosed with Hypermature Cataracts which will cost somewhere between $600 - $800. A special fund has been set up for donations to help pay for this surgery. If you wish to help, you can submit your donation to Safe Animal Shelter, PO Box 65507, Orange Park, FL 32065 and write "Missy Fund" in the memo field of your cheque.

Ursula, a sweet 2-year-old Shih Tzu, was brought to Safe Animal Shelter as a stray at the end of February. As a Shih Tzu "mom" for most of my life, I can agree that their description of Ursula's sweet personality is accurate. They are loving, loyal dogs that get along great with families and only want some love in return!
