Southern Living Magazine
In the November edition of Southern Living Magazine there is an article about Green Cove Springs and Clay County in reference to the "Parade of Trees" that as you know is a part of the "Christmas on Walnut Street" event. This year the Sesquicentennial (150) tree display will be aglow for 30 evenings through-out the Holiday Season. Pat Garlinghouse who owns the RiverPark Inn Bed & Breakfast deserves all of the credit. Pat made contact and invited the magazine to visit GCS--they accepted the invitation and visited during December 2007. Pat Garlinghouse even did a polar plunge and submerged herself in the pool to capture the photo for the article...now that is love & devotion for the good of your town. Our 42nd Annual GCS Christmas Parade theme reflects this honor--"Traditional Christmas in The South". More Good Things in GCS
More Good Things in GCS "Christmas on Walnut Street" is scheduled for Friday December 5th and Saturday December 6th in downtown Green Cove Springs; it is our elite event of the year in partnership with the City of Green Cove Springs it has proven to be a most popular festival. We know that it brings an economical boost to our downtown, encourages visitors to return and is a most fun community event enjoyed by all. What is going on in the City of Green Cove Springs?
Please note that I am not hiding behind some obscure user name. What is going on in Green Cove Springs? Can anyone answer that? Please forgive me as I may tend to "rant" in this blog entry, however, I am tired of what has been going on. Please Note that I will NOT name names on the record. If you want to know names you will have to go to city hall and ask for answers to any questions that you may have. (it is ALL public record) I watched this thread throughout the day yesterday (saturday) and was interested to see that we now have a Grand Jury investigation, council members moving out of the city, citizens educating each other on the charter and major complaints about a bathroom in the park. Kudos to Kelter
Kudos to Mayor Kelter. As far as I know he is the only politician from this county that has the guts to get on here and address the citizens’ questions and concerns head on. I don’t think people bash on you Mayor. I think it is just that you’re the only person on the city council that is willing to get on this site. Don’t know if your colleges are less courageous than you or just smarter…Ha-Ha.

Excessive use of Tasers
Did anyone else see the news report last night about Emily Delafield, the wheel chair bound woman in Green Cove Springs who died after a run in with the law where she was tasered? I guess there is a reporting system attached to them where it has clearly showed the woman was tasered apx 10 times with durations of contact with the body as long as 25 seconds. I really really try to view these situations having some empathy for Law Enforcement. It's a tough job, in more ways then one but this time I really have to side with that womans family. She was in a wheelchair for goodness sake, yes she had weapons, and no I don't expect the Police to allow themselves to be hurt trying to apprehend her but the number of times those tasers were used is unreasonable under the circumstances. There are any number of things they could have done to contain her until she exhausted herself, time was on their side, they just didn't take the time.
