Clay County Animal Control

Pet Preview: Lots of love to go around!

There’s lots of pets to be adopted from CatBugs Pet Rescue and Clay County Animal Control -- we couldn’t fit them all in the newspaper! Can you help them out and help them find loving homes?

Can’t adopt now? Pass this on to someone who can!

These pets are available through CatBugs Pet Rescue, 673-5813. Pets are fostered in private homes, examined by a vet, vaccinated and altered before adoption. Animals are available for viewing and adoption at the Orange Park/West Jax PetSmart from noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays. E-mail June at catbugno1@comcast.net or visit www.catbugs.petfinder.com.

Time Out (Please, I'm Beggin' Ya)

I dare say none of the people who devote their time, energy and resources to rescuing animals; none of the people who work directly with the animals for the county; and none of the people who have been blogging incessantly about Clay County Animal Control care more about animals than I do.  I would love to see Animal Control work at peak efficiency, which would include never euthanizing an animal in the face of a viable alternative.

How to reach that goal of peak efficiency is, like all things government, worthy of debate.  But what's been happening on MyClaySun's website has far exceeded real debate about Animal Control and, if it continues, those bloggers (from either side of the issue) will only succeed in making the public so tired of the issue that they just want it to go away - and that will not bode well for the animals everyone cares about.

Pet Preview: Dogs in danger at CCAC

We've all been watching and listening to more and more stories and accusations about Clay County Animal Control's operations unfold. In reality, the best way for us to help these animals is to neuter and spay, and to give as many pets as we can a home. The dogs below face euthanization; if you can't adopt now, please pass this on to your friends and family!

For full information, contact Clay County Animal Control, 3984 Florida 16 W., Green Cove Springs or call 904-269-6342. See more pets online at helpahomelesspet.org.
